Imelda Auron is one of many children from El Salvador who were given up in adoption (many of them kidnapped) during the war. Twenty years later, she was reunited with her family thanks to Pro-Búsqueda, an organization that seeks to reunite families who were separated during the war, focusing primarily on the forced disappearance of children.
Imelda had to witness the murder of her parents and two older sisters when she was only four. The remaining children lost their home, their land, and were forced to split up. She is currently writing a book about her experiences, and this is a reading from that. |
